LEBBS is our Charity of the Year
Software Europe have adopted Lincolnshire Emergency Blood Bikes Service (LEBBS) as their charity of the year to support the fantastic work the they do.
Lincolnshire Emergency Blood Bikes Service (LEBBS) is a charity made up entirely of volunteers providing an out of hours transport service to NHS hospitals and healthcare facilities throughout Lincolnshire. They transport urgent medical items such as blood, pathology & microbiology specimens, medical notes, pharmaceutical products and donor breast milk. This service is provided completely free of charge.
Currently there are 25 similar Blood Bike groups across the UK, covering 65 counties and reaching more than 85% of the country’s population. However it wasn’t until April 2013 that LEBBS brought this valuable provision to Lincolnshire. Initially covering Boston and Grantham Hospitals, it wasn’t long before the service was extended to include Lincoln County Hospital. This now means that the delivery area includes, but is not limited to, Scunthorpe, Grimsby and Louth Hospitals as well as to the regional NHS Blood and Transplant Centre in Sheffield.
Paul Bagwell, Chair/Fleet Manager at LEBBS commented, "On behalf LEBBS I would like to whole-heartedly thank Software Europe for choosing us as their charity of the year. This valuable support will help keep our team of dedicated volunteers on the road, enabling us to support our local NHS Trusts, to play our part in saving lives and continue saving money that would otherwise be spent on taxis or expensive couriers."
Neil Everatt, CEO at Software Europe added "The work that the volunteers at LEBBS do is truly inspiring. They appeared on our radar when one of our development team started volunteering for them and the rest of our colleagues voted unanimously to support them for the next year. Working with the community is at the heart of Software Europe and so being able to support such an amazing charity was an easy thing to do.”
